This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are strong and resilient young people that live in underserved communities. They are thorough, courageous and passionate students. For many of them our school community of their peers, administrators and teachers are where they find they are safe, loved, and cared for.
My Project
My students need of tenor and bass drums. These resources would be used for student involvement in the school and community events such as parades and field shows for our marching band ensemble. Students will gain proficiency at playing percussion rudiments and applying the theory into creating original percussion cadences. These very eager students will have the opportunity to showcase their newly discovered talents, which outside of their core curriculum classes, they aren’t provided many opportunities to do so.
There are numerous advantages of being a part of a functioning performing arts program like band; These donations will help instill vital core values into the lives of our students.
Similar to my own experiences, the availability of these instruments will help to inspire students who lack the enthusiasm to be empowered true seekers of their education. Awarding our students instruments will give them a reason to invest their time and efforts into themselves in a constructive environment. That can provide for them scholarship funding in just a few shorts school years if they have the opportunity they are seeking now.
