FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Haugh's classroom raised $554
This project is fully funded
I am a music teacher in Colorado. My classroom is fun and full of learning. Every day I try to incorporate music into the core subjects. I work closely with other teachers to make music as meaningful as possible to the students' educational experience. I teach a wide age group of students K-5 grade. We are in a very low-income area where our students do not have many opportunities outside of school.
Our students do not have the opportunity to experience various musical cultural events; such as plays and musicals. As their music teacher I realize that for most students, I will be the ONLY source of music experience they will ever have (besides the radio)!
I have decided that I WILL provide the music cultural experiences for our low income students by actually having the students BE a part of the experiences. Our students have never been in or seen a musical and I'd love to change that!!! I used what little money our district has for the music department to purchase the programs, however, I need the costumes in order to make this a TRUE musical.
Having these costumes would make the students feel like they really are a part of a musical production. It will help my students feel that their role is important. They will learn the importance of having costumes and be able to improve their acting skills.
You can make it possible for these low-income, impoverished students to experience a TRUE musical experience!
More than half of students from low‑income households
