In Miami, I teach 53 amazing, eager and energetic 5th graders. These students are in gifted and advanced classes with me for Reading/Language Arts. They have been such a great group all year and I couldn't imagine spending my year with anyone else.
They are incredibly bright and ready to grow and I would love to be the teacher that is fun and challenging for them.
They deserve to have a classroom full of learning, growth, activities and games to help them successfully comprehend all the information expected of them.
My Project
As many new programs are being developed to help teachers and students, we need the technology that can handle the demands of a 21st century classroom. We need to be able to run multiple programs, record data, analyze data, and have instant results to help guide our teaching. Having access to my own personal computer, where I can install programs & manage my own material will help me to become the teacher I feel my students need. I also love creating resources for my students and I feel having newer technology at my fingertips will only skyrocket my motivation to create for them!
The laptop will be in my classroom and my students will also have the freedom to learn, build, and create using programs such as Minecraft Education, Microsoft Sway/PowerPoint, and Buncee.
The students can showcase their learned skills by creating presentations or models to present what they have learned. The goal is to prepare students for the future and we must provide students with the tools necessary to adapt and change in a world that changes rapidly. New technology is the gateway for students to experience all the internet has to offer.
Having this technology will also help in my development as a teacher. I can use this laptop when attending professional training courses or PLC (Professional Learning Communities) meetings, which will enable me to develop new knowledge and skills that will ultimately lead to improving my student’s learning.
