This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Regular attendance in elementary school cultivates a strong foundation for learning that will help students succeed in their K-12 education and beyond. As a Pupil Services & Attendance Counselor, I work directly with students who experience difficulties in achieving their academic potential.
Education acts as a gateway for social mobility by opening doors for employment opportunities.
Families are challenged in promoting an education for their children when they are overwhelmed with social-emotional, home, and community barriers. Coupled with case management services, I intend to provide snacks and gift cards to reward students who maintain excellent attendance; while also providing support and encouragement to students with improved attendance. These incentives will also be utilized as a PBIS strategy for students struggling with behavioral management and positive habits.
