My Students
Everyday we start class with a fun warm up about their personal lives that will tie into the lesson. By the end of the year, I want students to learn everything they can about physical science as well as develop the best organizational skills. The biggest challenge is not having enough supplies.
My students are extremely creative, inquisitive, and self-motivated.
They want to learn everything they possibly can and ask some of the most creative questions.
The school is a 6-12 school in which the students have the advantage of being taught by a strong science program that wants to push them to their limits. Everyone wants to maximize student development so that they can develop 21st century skills that they will apply to the real world when they graduate. Particularly, we want to develop students who will be prepared in the STEM fields so that they can develop some of the greatest innovations.
My Project
One of the greatest skills our students are lacking are study skills. A science interactive notebook is a great tool to use. Interactive notebooks help with students' organization, but they are also a creative way to engage students to process information and demonstrate critical thinking. At the end of the year, the students will have a working portfolio that can be assessed to show what they have learned throughout the school year.
In our list we have added different colored pens, papers, colored pencils so that students can use them to show their creative side. By having these resources students can demonstrate what they know and organize their information in a creative way. We have also asked for pencils, glue sticks, and scissors because a lot of class time is lost when we have to share our materials. Our students have procedures to make the class run smoothly while working on their notebooks. Unfortunately, a lot of class time is lost and limits our learning time.
The donations of this project will improve my classroom because it will allow for students to demonstrate their creativity without the lack of resources getting in the way.
It will change my students' lives for the better because they will develop organizational skills that will get them through high school and college. By developing these organizational skills now, they will be able to better focus on the concepts being taught.
