Help me give my students the opportunity to learn through dissection. Frog dissection and dog shark dissection are both a rite of passage for any 8th grade student.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 8th graders are at a low income title one school, with which most of the students have never seen a frog, let alone been to the ocean. Having them dissect different types of organs/animals will allow my students not only an opportunity to have a cool experience to remember, but also the opportunity to see and use a hands-on activity to learn and compare different anatomies. Students are required to know the functions of the body's systems and the organs that make up each system and compare them with other organisms.
With the help of these hands-on materials, the students can see directly how our body systems work together to perform the tasks of everyday life.
While a student may read about the heart and lungs functions, being able to see and dissect them can explain why they need each other to function properly.
With stem projects kids learn how to problem solve and use critical thinking to solve problems and by working together they will learn that everyone can contribute to solve problems.
