it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us bring more variety to our performances with additional plays and design books!
I teach middle school drama / speech grades 6 - 8.
Our title I school district is in a high-risk community where most of students are minority and low-income. Though our students struggle at times to succeed, they are passionate, imaginative kids who deserve the chance to experience a creative learning environment.
My Project
Our 8th grade theatre students work on public speaking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills by mounting 10-minute plays at the end of a 9 week class. The students choose a play to work with, rehearse, and incorporate lights, sound, set, props, costumes, and makeup into their play. This wonderful project allows students of all ability levels and learning types to play a role in the creative process.
We will perform more than 40 plays (9 – 15 each quarter) and more than 300 students will take part in these plays each year. We need to expand our library of age appropriate 10-minute plays and design texts for our students to use in this project.
Your donation will make it possible for theater students to have a diverse collection of scripts and design books from which to choose.
By providing these scripts, you allow the students to choose the type of play and design that best suits them.
