This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"My students are my passion!" As a mom myself, I do my best to not only reach my students academically but to provide them with the social setting they need to be within a classroom that supports them as people. They are all my kids not just in school but out!

In my class we have a mantra: "We may not ALWAYS know, but we can ALWAYS grow!" I try to create a classroom where students feel they can work hard toward understanding what they can do to grow instead of just focusing on getting the right answer.

I work hard to instill in my students that if they focus on having a growth mindset in my classroom that they will achieve great success in and out of my classroom.

My Project

The chart paper and markers will allow my students to have the tools they need to continue doing Math Gallery walks. The bins will allow us to have stations in the room to hold supplies needed for daily work and eliminate so much traffic in the room as well as allowing my students to be more independent in getting the supplies they need for an activity. The books will allow my students to have a friendly version of examples and definitions needed to make better sense of the math content we are learning. I own one copy right now and my students LOVE it! So I am requesting more to be able to have a small library of resources.

These materials will help me by continuing to support the students learning process, and the materials they need for a successful year!

We use the chart paper to stick around the walls and floors to do gallery walks. During these gallery walks a small group of students get to work together to solve problems and show what they did. Every student has an opportunity to see various students strategies and ways they are solving problems. This activity is especially helpful for students because they get to comment on peer work and learn from one another. They get to build their presentation skills as well as their ability to peer asses work. My favorite part of a gallery walk is when students go back to their own charts and have a chance to read nice comments as well as questions peers had for them. This learning activity is one of my most successful tool, and I would love to have the necessary tools to be able to keep it going!
