I am looping with most of my students from last year and it is such a privilege. They are such excited learners and knowledgeable little people and I am always trying to up my game to challenge them. Of all the groups I've had, this is the most kind-hearted. We really function as a community and are able to share in decision making and problem solving. This group is also quite diverse with 25 percent being ELL students. We have students who speak Vietnamese, Chinese, Khmer, and Spanish. It's a very interesting mix.
My Project
A new rug would make for a clean and welcoming space for my first graders. Our school was built in 1928 and has had few upgrades but I want our space to be colorful and a place that our families can be proud of. With budget shortfalls and so many schools in our district needing basic maintenance, it is unlikely that we will be getting a new rug in the foreseeable future. We spend 75 percent of our learning on the rug and these kids deserve a sanitary and attractive learning space. It would really complete the room. Thank you.
