6th Grade Writers Need Examples of Current Events!
Help me give my students Scholastic magazines to enhance their understanding of literacy, hear voices of advocacy, and spark joy in their learning. We appreciate all contributions to support excitement in the classroom!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Emily's classroom raised $409

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of our students want to read current events through relevant magazines and hear powerful voices. Our classes currently are learning about different forms of activism and how to be critical consumers in our world of endless information and sources. Having access to Scholastic magazines will help them think critically about what they are consuming and how different perspectives can change the nature of an article, which is a skill they will carry into life. As they progress as readers, they will eventually create their own articles or essay to show their opinions on a topic that they feel passionately about.
The Scholastic magazines will play a part in many classroom ELA activities and we can't wait to see how our students grow.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
