6th Grade Teacher Needs Distance Learning Equipment!

Help me give my students a robust learning experience this fall with adequate equipment at home. I need a white board and markers to teach math, equipment to videotape lessons, and a document camera to help display material.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, but they love to learn, are fun and energetic, and have goals and aspirations to have a successful and fulfilling life. My school is a Title 1 school where all students receive free/reduced lunch.

When schools were unexpectedly closed, many of my students were thrown into an unknown world of online learning while also facing challenges and uncertainty at home.

Even through all of this uncertainty, a large majority of my students completed their work and remained engaged in their learning. As the new school year approaches, we know that distance learning is going to be a part of education and I would like to be better prepared for my incoming 6th graders.

My Project

After teaching from home this past spring, I had to improvise with my instruction because I was not equipped with the right technology at my home. I had difficulty teaching my students difficult math concepts because my small white board from my house was hard to see, I did not have adequate technology to record videos, and I was unable to show my students documents like I would in the classroom. Many of my students found learning to be very difficult during this time and I found it incredibly hard to teach.

These materials will adequately allow me to deliver equitable instruction to my students who not only want to learn but deserve to have a quality learning experience even if it is through the computer.

These materials will help me create a better online learning experience for my students during this incredibly challenging time for all.
