Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Richmond, CA, where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though my students face many hardships outside of school, they want to become scholars so they can have a successful life one day.

They are creative, fun and energetic, and they deserve the best resources.

The 6th-grade teachers need general supplies to help with our lessons. Most of the materials we use on a daily basis come from our own money. We are currently going through materials a lot faster than we planned so we need to restock on basic, everyday teaching materials in order to better serve our students.

My Project

These materials are used almost every day in our 6th-grade classrooms. Anchor charts are used multiple times a day to display student learning and thinking, and also to summarize strategies we learned to solve math problems. Glue sticks and post-it notes are used in lessons to complete assignments and add to our notebooks.

All of these materials are necessary to engage with the challenging 6th-grade materials and demonstrate our learning every day.

We love to display student work around the classroom and to share our learning. These materials will allow us to show off what we have worked on and collaborate with others. My students deserve to have new materials and this will help us achieve all of our learning goals this year.
