5th-Graders Ready for College, But Need Technology!
My students need a laptop and a printer in their classroom in order to do their research projects, look for information on the internet, and be able to print their work.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is taking over the world, and my students are ready to do just the same! My 5th-graders have college on their minds, and the only way that I can help prepare them is with technology. Unfortunately our school lacks just that!
My 5th-graders attend a low-income school in an urban setting.
My 33 students have one thing in mind, and that is to one day attend college. My students are very hard working, and they try their very best every day!
But, unfortunately our school currently doesn't have the funds to purchase new computers for our classrooms. The one computer we have in the classroom doesn't work. It's tough when I assign research projects, and they want to do their research in the classroom and print.
My Project
Having a computer and printer in the classroom will help in so many ways. They can use the computer to do research on the internet, and they will be able to print their work and assignments. This will allow them to get familiar with different educational sites that are great for research. Printing can allow me to print their work and even give them follow-up activities right away.
I will also be able to use the computer during workstation time. I can have two students at a time use the computer to work on assignments, play educational games, etc. The different ways that a laptop can be useful in a classroom are endless.
Technology is the focus of our students' generation.
It is very important that we prepare our students by exposing them to the internet and how to use it. My students will soon go to high school and hopefully one day attend college. The only way that they will encounter success is if I prepare them by exposing them to technology now!
