Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

About half of our students come from low-income families. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our kids here are unique because we have a high percentage of migrant families. The students are so sweet and most of them try their absolute hardest day-to-day. Since they come from a low-income background, traveling and gaining experiences outside of the classroom are few and far between. These fifth graders deserve a chance to have exposure to the real world and how to use the content they have been learning all year long!

The fifth grade social studies curriculum focuses on the history of America.

We have traveled through the past to learn about the early people of America, and are now continuing that journey to the founding of the American colonies.

My Project

Our students are hard workers. Many of our students do not have the opportunity to experience real-world experiences in a fun way. Our students spend their school breaks working alongside their families and contributing to their community. Many of our students have a lack of transportation at home so their experiences of the world in which they live is limited. Going to Epcot will help our students achieve an understanding that there are many opportunities available to them.

Giving our students the experience to Epcot is rewarding to us, as we love to see them interact with the real-world and use knowledge taught in the classroom applied in a different setting.

This experience will be the last memory our students will have of their elementary years.
