5th Grade Students In Desperate Need of Working Computers!
My students need access to a laptop as they delve into the world of technology and connect to various subjects through project based learning and research.
Remember the days when all you needed for school was books, paper and pencils? This is no longer the case these days. Most of today's curriculum has a technology component used to develop lessons taught in the classroom. We need a laptop so we can access all the components of the curriculum.
Technology is the wave of the future; without it my students will be left behind.
We need a new laptop to enable us to use the computer programs that supplement our Language Arts and Math Curriculum.
I am a 5th grade teacher with a diverse group of students. They speak many different languages. Although they are all different, they all have a great desire to learn.
Our public school is small and has a diverse student population. Our multicultural atmosphere is wonderful for learning, and we are a California Distinguished School, recognized for outstanding achievement in education. My students enjoy learning and are very curios, eager and motivated. I am certain that with the addition of new technology my students will soar!
My Project
My classroom is extremely diverse, comprised of highly gifted students and English Language Learners. Being able to differentiate my instruction often depends on technology, to support those in need and to provide further engagement and challenge to others. Our curriculum includes technology components and at the moment we only have 3 working computers. It is extremely difficult to have 31 students huddle up around 3 computers. Additionally, in order to enrich the current curriculum, I embed project-based learning. Many of these projects require Internet research and word processing capabilities. Since all students select different topics, often times the research must be done individually. The use of a laptop would greatly relieve this challenge.
Please help my students have access to updated technology in our classroom, as it is a vital tool in today's world. Technology is the key to promote a lifetime of learning. Thanks to your donations, learning will be at their fingertips!
Our public school is required by law to provide every material for our students, and our budget cuts are proving to be detrimental to the classroom.
The state of education is a reality we have to deal with everyday, but we need to find ways to make it better for our students. Simple pleasures such as using a computer make for happier and more knowledgeable children.
