This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 5th grade students love to do Science! They are eager to act like scientist and test out their hypothesis. All day they ask…What time is Science?
Our school is in the urban city of Los Angeles.
Students are second and third generation of immigrant parents. Our community is very proactive and we have many parents help in our campus daily. Although the socio-economic levels in our school are low income this doesn't define our students because they are always eager to learn and succeed!
My Project
My 5th grade students will be able to use the Science tubs to further their learning in the specific science subjects. They will be able to conduct lots of fascinating experiments and explore the scientific method. The experiment cards will help them with the activities that are aligned to the National Science Standards. Also the materials will be readily available to help complete each experiment and explore concepts in depth. The tubs contain material such as microscopes, pulleys and 3-D models, fun flip books, vocabulary cards and full-color charts that will enrich my classroom. These tubs will make Science key concepts fun for students to learn and easy to master!
My students have dreams of becoming scientist, engineers, and doctors.
These materials will help them towards achieving those dreams. Not having the materials to do science experiments shouldn't have to be a barrier in their learning. These materials will help my students learn about fundamental Science concepts that they will further use in their education and life!
