My Project

We can transform the lives of Oakland’s youth through our Financial Literacy for Kids program. Our mission is to equip students with essential financial skills to overcome challenges, break cycles of poverty, and build brighter futures.

Why This Matters:

Boosting Academic Performance: Students in our program have seen a 10-20% improvement in reading and math scores.

Empowering Future Leaders: Financial literacy equips students with the tools needed for long-term success.

Closing the Wealth Gap: White families hold ten times the wealth of Black families and six times that of Latino families. Financial education is key to addressing these disparities.

Urgent Need:

Educational Disparities: Only 36% of Oakland students are proficient in reading, and just 25% in math. These gaps disproportionately affect students of color.

Racial Wealth Gap: The wealth divide severely limits opportunities for marginalized communities, affecting access to education, housing, and healthcare.

Program Success:

National Stock Market Game Champions: Our 9- and 10-year-olds have won the San Francisco/Bay Area division five times, proving the impact of early financial education.

Closing the Achievement Gap: Financial literacy empowers students to succeed academically and financially, helping close the racial wealth divide.
