This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is my first year teaching dance at the middle school level and I will be incorporating yoga practices to assist students in developing strength, flexibility, balance, and social/emotional awareness.
Gaining core strength and flexibility will help student dancers have stronger back and abdominal muscles, which will both improve their dance movements and prevent injuries.
Having yoga mats would be incredibly helpful and safer for their daily practice as the dance floor has wooden floors. It would be AMAZING if our students could receive yoga mats to maximize their dance practice.
