This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the Pupil Services and Attendance counselor, it is my duty to encourage students to keep practicing excellent attendance (meaning they come to school at least 96% of the time). It is essential even for our youngest students to develop the healthy habits on being on-time, present, and ready to learn every day that they come to school. I have been conducting weekly raffles as a short-term incentive program to boost student morale and create a school culture where we celebrate our students for fulfilling the expectations LAUSD has set forth.

We all know that missing school is missing out.

Students with chronic absenteeism generally feel anxious, sad, and even scared on the days that they do come to school. My hope and goal is for all my students to feel welcomed, safe and happy at school.
