My Students
When I step in front of my classroom at the beginning of the day and look at my students, I know that a great day awaits me. My students greet me with smiles, questions and eager faces; they are ready to learn, and I am ready to teach them all that I can.
My students are incredible, curious, adept, and capable learners.
My students speak different languages (over 19 languages at our school), many lack in economic advantage, and all have tremendous talent to share with each other. My students jump into their daily learning with zeal. They work together, laugh together, learn together, and share everything in their classroom community.
My Project
Fourth graders love adventure stories! Louis Sachar's novel about Stanley Yelnats adventures at Camp Green Lake would be a terrific addition to our literature studies this year. Imagine students reading "Holes" as a class while listening to masterful narration. Our fourth graders will be instantly transported to the desert setting of Camp Green Lake and all the characters there.
"Holes" is a remarkable book about courage, friendship, and integrity.
Fourth graders will enjoy reading about Stanley and Zero at Camp Green Lake. Afterwards, students can continue the exciting story and learn about Armpit (also from Camp Green Lake) in the book "Small Steps." In reading groups, students can read the remarkable sequel together and follow Armpit's adventures.
With a class set of "Holes," a narration CD to listen to while we read together, and a small set of the sequel "Small Steps," my fourth graders will practice their reading and take an imaginative journey to Camp Green Lake. What is buried at Camp Green Lake? What is the Warden searching for? Help our fourth graders solve the mystery by supporting this project and supporting literature studies!
