This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have worked at Downtown Miami Charter, a low socio-economic school, for the last five years. My students go above and beyond to ensure that they are giving their best. Whenever they are given a resource, they run with it and are extremely appreciative of everything they are provided. My students push me daily to want to do better and think of creative ways to express themselves and their different styles of learning.
I teach reading and love to expose students to new material through novel studies.
Unfortunately, when doing a class novel study, most of my students are unable to purchase supplemental items. With the given state of society working mainly on technology devices, my kids haven't had ample opportunity to work with reading paper books. I appreciate any help you can give in making my classroom dreams of more paper books come true!
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to read this book for our first class project of the new school year.
