My Students
The importance of math isn't often realized by fourth graders. We hope to create a meaningful experiences through the creation of their own everyday math book. But we first need our own books to inspire and ignite their creativity!
The students are an enthusiastic group of fourth graders who are currently struggling with math.
They attend an urban public school in Ohio. We currently have a small classroom library with no math reading books. We are hoping this math/reading project will help create positive experiences for the students.
My Project
Having a classroom library is difficult to accomplish. But having subject specific books related to specific projects almost seems impossible! Please help us fill our shelf with these books so the students will be able to read and borrow these books when completing this Math/Reading cross curricular project. These are great books that will be able to be used by future classes in this school for years to come. Some of the books requested include: The Math Curse, One Hundred Hungry Ants, Mummy Math: An Adventure in Geometry, and The Grapes Of Math.
Learning to like a subject that you struggle with isn't something that comes easy.
We are hoping to link something they love (reading picture/story books) with something they struggle with (math) to help them learn to Love math. Please help us to make this project possible by providing these books and supplies for our classroom!
