Help me give my students novels to study throughout the year. They love novels and there is so much information to gain!

My Project

My fourth graders love to read a good novel. The problem is, our library usually only has one copy of the book. It's hard for them to study and dig deep with one book for 20 kids! I would love to be able to have a whole classroom set of novels for us to use at our leisure.

In my classroom, I love to do unit studies.

We do a unit study of Roald Dahl and follow it up with James and the Giant Peach. I have exhausted all our resources and have only been able to come up with 6 copies for our class of 20 to share. Having this set in the classroom would be so convenient for each student to be able to have their own copy.

This is the same situation for Civil War Drummer Boy and Tale of Despereaux. We do a cross-curriculum study on the Civil War and students enjoy reading the Civil War Drummer Boy. Again, we run into the problem of having enough copies.

Tale of Despereaux is written by another favorite author, Kate DiCamillo. This is a wonderful novel full of colorful characters and an exciting plot. The knowledge a student can gain from this book is enormous!
