This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very curious bilingual 4th grade learners. They are scientists, pioneers and engineers learning about the world around them.

They are honoring their heritage by becoming bilingual students.

For most cases they are the future for their families. Most of the time they serve as translators helping their families.

My students have been working on their bilingual skills since kinder and are ready to take it to the next level. They are avid readers but will need the right amount of books to choose from.

My Project

This year marks a change in my career. After being in a bilingual kindergarten for 7 years my school is ready to expand our growing bilingual program to include 4th grade. I was the lucky teacher to continue with these hard working and dedicated students.

These books will jump start our 4th grade bilingual classroom library.

My school has been serving low income second language learners for more than 25 years. Six years ago we launched a bilingual program starting in kindergarten. Each year we have been lucky to add a grade taking our bilingual program to 4th grade. Currently, we have 1 to 2 bilingual classrooms from kinder to 3rd grade. I was the pioneer when we started in kinder. I will be the pioneer starting a bilingual 4th grade.
