Most of my 3rd Grade students started Kindergarten right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. With virtual classes and continual quarantining, they did not get off to a strong start on their academic path. I have also observed an increase of anxiety with students since returning to in-person learning.
As a teacher at a Title I school in Moore, Oklahoma, I am working hard to help each student gain any skills that were missed due to lack of in-person learning during the pandemic.
With the help of the requested hands-on learning Math kits, I hope to reteach skills that should have already been mastered and close any gaps in learning. I also plan to use the Calm Strips, Etch-a-Sketch, and other calming tools to allow students to calm down and conquer their anxiety, so they can focus on learning. I have also requested some bottles of hand sanitizer to subdue any worries of anyone getting sick.
In a nutshell, my goal is to assist students to grow academically and to improve their social-emotional skills.
The funds raised will help my students to focus on learning, gain academic & coping skills, and stay safe/healthy.
