3rd Grade Hands-On Learning With Math Manipulatives

Help me give my students math manipulatives that will strengthen their knowledge and understanding of new math concepts.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Stapelman's classroom raised $592

My Project

I’m reaching out to ask for your support in providing math manipulatives for my 3rd grade students. Math manipulatives are physical objects—like base ten blocks, counters, fraction tiles, small clocks, etc—that help students explore and understand math concepts in a hands-on, visual way.

Many 3rd graders learn best when they can see and touch math concepts.

Manipulatives help students visualize abstract ideas, like regrouping in addition or comparing fractions, making these topics more accessible and meaningful.

Instead of just memorizing formulas or steps, students using manipulatives learn why a method works. This leads to stronger, more lasting understanding—especially important as math becomes more complex in upper grades.

Manipulatives give all students—especially visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners—another entry point into math. They also support English language learners and students with learning differences by breaking down barriers to understanding.

When working with manipulatives, my students often explain their thinking to peers or the class. This builds confidence, deepens reasoning skills, and helps them develop math vocabulary in an authentic way.

Manipulatives make math fun, interactive, and less intimidating. They turn problem-solving into a game-like experience that sparks curiosity and builds a positive attitude toward math.

Your donation will go directly toward materials that will be used daily in small groups, centers, and whole-class instruction. With your help, we can create a math-rich classroom where every student feels confident and capable.

Thank you for supporting hands-on learning in our classroom!
