3rd Grade Class Set of Dictionaries to Increase Learning Skills!

The dictionary is designed to be accessible, with easy-to-understand explanations that make it a great tool to expand knowledge.

Dictionaries are needed in 3rd grade. They help explain new information with engaging illustrations and photos, which help bring the meanings of words to life. 3rd grade does not have dictionaries for each class and have had to share a few dictionaries with all 4 classes.

My campus is considered to be a one hundred percent free and reduced lunch campus.

This means that my students come from poverty. Many of my students are also English Learners and struggle to acquire necessary language skills. When asked about literature at home, most of my students have informed me that they simply do not have any books at home. This is why I provide a library of books in my room for my students and want to teach them how to use a dictionary.

My Project

These dictionaries will mean that my students can have the opportunity to not only learn new words and their meanings but open their knowledge to new words and how to find them. My students will learn new skills and improve their literacy.

I have seen student skills advance significantly in reading and writing, simply because they read more often.

These dictionaries will provide our students with more opportunities to learn and deepen their understanding of words. I have seen the correlation between students who read for fun, and gains in their academic achievement. Words can not accurately explain how having these books will benefit my students.
