Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 3rd grade Dual-Language Immersion. Most of my students come from low income families. I have learned that my students learn better when they can see and touch math. I want my students to love Math as much as I do. It is why it is important to step away from paper and pencil. Students can learn fractions concepts when able to manipulate them.
I would love for every student to have access to their own hands-on kit as we learn these concepts together as a whole class, small groups and one-on-one.
Students will practice comparing, ordering, and equivalencies. They will develops skills in parts of a whole, comparing fractions, equivalent fractions, addition and subtraction of fractions, reading decimals, writing decimals and comparing decimals.
