My Project
With a push in STEM education at the K-12 level, finding new, fun ways for students to explore and learn is important. The students in our school are already 1-to-1 with Chromebooks, and therefore get plenty of practice in the Digital Literacy aspect of Integrated STEM and computer science. This project will allow my students to take the next step.
Getting a 3D printer in the classroom would immediately increase engagement and allow for unique learning opportunities that we could not get otherwise.
State standards in science and computer science demand a basic understanding of hardware vs. software in computational devices, as well as an understanding of coding and how patterns are used to transfer information. Learning how the printer functions, what a digital print entails, and what all is required to create and send a print from the computer to the printer would achieve these academic standards in a relevant and meaningful way.
This project is a Part 2 to my original one, adding extra pieces and interesting filaments to the printer that was funded in my original project- a Creality3D Ender-3 S1 printer.
