Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of the important skills in 7th and 8th grade level is exploring 3D objects, their cross sections, surface area, and volume of the shapes. I would love for my students to have access to these shapes as well as access to play dough to make the shapes and cut them with plastic knives to be able to visually see cross sections.
Help me give my students more hand-on tools to incorporate be able to see Math alive.
We will use the big size 3D shapes and play dough to make our own 3D shapes which then we can cut with plastic knives to see their horizontal, vertical, and diagonal cross sections and the 2D shapes that they create. This will be Geometry coming alive!
With the material in this project we will incorporate hands-on activities in Math to make sense of abstract Geometry concepts and see cross sections of 3D shapes in real life.
