3D Shapes - Are You Feeling It?

The students in our public school come from various backgrounds, races, languages and economic diversity.

Our school is located in Wisconsin. I have 30 kindergartners in my classroom who are energetic and ready to learn. I am hoping to get 3D shape sets to enhance our shape unit. This way learners will be able to manipulate and see the shapes for the activities we are giving them.

My Project

During our math shape unit we begin to explore 3D shapes. We currently have a larger teacher set, but not enough to let a group of children manipulate and explore on their own as a class.

There are some exciting math games the learners can play in partners once we add 3D shapes to our classroom.

They can play games which help them build vocabulary by sitting back to back and describing what shape they may have in their hand as the partner tries to grab the same shape. The learners can also make designs and describe, while sitting back to back, how to create the design and see if their partner can make the same one.
