Are you tired of reading text and looking at pictures in 2D? Well, let's bring our learning to life with a 3D printer from MakerBot! Imagine how motivated learners will be and how their thirst for knowledge can continue to grow!

I am the proud teacher of a class of students with cognitive disabilities.

Our school is located in a large urban district in Wisconsin. There are multiple languages and cultures represented in my classroom, as well as different economic and academic backgrounds. Student ability level varies with a mixture of grade and ability levels.

My Project

n an attempt to bring learning to life and to connect students to making lessons more meaningful, this 3D printer from MakerBot will literally bring their ideas to life and off of the page. Students will create things with this printer, write about the impact it could make on others, and even learn to "market" their ideas. In all, it will motivate them to participate and learn, just to have the chance to use the 3D printer! It will be something that they can use to create things then present their creations to their peers. This will get them interacting with technology, doing research, and then presenting. These are all skills that students will need to use in the future no matter what type of job they are able to obtain.

Not many people have a 3D printer; and to be able to incorporate it in to the classroom setting will not only motivate students to do their work, but also motivate them to want to use it.

They will be encouraged to be creative, innovative, and to use their brains and imagination to create amazing things! This printer will allow my non-verbal students a chance to express their thoughts and opinions using another venue.
