3D Printing with a Purpose: Part 5

My Students

I teach high school math at a Title I school in Eastern KY. I teach 9th-12th graders every day. This year I have amazing groups of students. They are hard workers and strive to do the best they can. Most of my students have a low socioeconomic status.

I want my students to be given every opportunity to succeed in and out of the classroom.

I want my students to learn to be better mathematicians and better people as well. I hope that as they come and go for my room that walk out better than when they came in.

Most students struggle in the area of mathematics. My students have their struggles and their victories. It's my goal that the number of victories increases and the struggle will cause the victories.

Our recent endeavors include creating a new 3D printing lab for our students. The students at our high school do not have much access to this type of technology. My hope is to bring them this technology and open doors for them in regards to STEM-related occupations.

My Project

In this part of our 3D printing lab project, we are needing two tools, a heat gun, and a smoothing tool, to help students with creating flawless 3D prints. We are also needing a locking cabinet since some of the tools we are using can be dangerous and are expensive to replace.

These three things will help add to the efficiency of the 3D printing lab.

We want to make sure that our lab has everything that students need and these are some of the things that we definitely need. Especially the locking cabinet.
