Help me give my students the ability to 3D print objects they have designed for real-world, problem-based learning activities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach science to grades 6th through 8th. We focus on STEM principles and integrate the design process whenever possible. In a normal year, we are able to work with one another on hands-on group projects. The challenges facing us this year due to Covid-19 has made working in this manner impossible.
My goal is to prepare my students for jobs that will be available in 10 years.
They love getting a problem and having to solve it too. My students have a thirst for learning about new technologies, so I want to do whatever I can to give them those opportunities.
My Project
I like using real-world examples within project-based group projects. Having access to a quality, fast 3D printer will allow my students to collaborate together to create objects to help solve a problem. I will reach out to local businesses and other teachers in the district to find project ideas that students can create solutions for.
One idea from a kindergarten teacher is to have my students design a pencil gripper for her class.
She used to buy a certain gripper that is no longer available. She would like to work with my students to give them the design constraints and have them create prototypes. She can test them with her students and give feedback.
These types of real-world projects offer students incredible opportunities and give them skills they can apply throughout the rest of their lives.
