This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students love to learn, they love to develop and apply new skills, and they are resilient. We are an urban, low-income district, and our families are mostly hardworking immigrant families, many of whom speak a language other than English at home.
Our Library Makerspace provides opportunities for students to engage in hands-on discovery, invention, and understanding, as they apply and investigate scientific concepts and skills, address real-life problems with creative thinking, and use technology in innovative ways to solve problems.
Students learn and apply the Engineering Design Process, as they work in groups to imagine new ideas, build models, investigate concepts, make discoveries, and develop their own understandings. 3Doodler pens have been one of my students' favorite technology tools to utilize over the past several years, and the addition of a new Dremel 3D printer would allow students to apply design concepts in new and exciting ways!
Students will learn how to bring their ideas to life as 3D-printed models. They will learn how to apply the design process of imagining, designing, creating, and revising to improve their design techniques, and they will learn how to improve from mistakes and failures. Students will learn how technology can be used to solve problems with creative solutions.
