My Students
My students are 6th graders from Rockaway, New York. They take pride in all the work they do. Their favorite part of the day is when they get to collaborate and solve problems together. There is an extra sense of excitement when I, as their teacher, can make the learning have a connection to the "real world" through hands-on projects.
We have high expectations at our school, therefore our students are polite, hard working and they are always ready for a challenge.
We are also constantly looking for different ways to prepare our students for exciting careers, including in the computer sciences.
My Project
We are working to bring STEM into our 6th grade classroom setting. We would like to provide more real-world engineering design experiences for our students while using the latest technology. This project will spark creativity while encouraging students to collaborate and become more engaged in curricular content. 3D printing will create a visual learning environment that improves their understanding of the world, being able to innovate, create, touch and see their projects.
With a 3D printer our students can design and build solutions to real world problems.
Students will build important life skills such as critical thinking, mathematical and problem solving techniques and spatial reasoning. This will allow students a hands-on experience while giving them access to knowledge previously unavailable.
