Our school corporation is a rural district, trying to equip our students with the skills and experiences to be successful in our ever-changing world. I have the privilege to teach a multi-age second and third-grade class. I love teaching literacy, problem-solving, and thinking skills!
My second and third-graders are naturally curious and I want to help support them as they collaborate and learn creatively!
As their teacher, it is my goal to create opportunities to make them curious about the world around them. My goal is to empower them to ask questions and find answers. My students deserve it!
My Project
My students and I would love to creatively use a 3D printer to unleash our imaginations and enhance our understanding of essential standards and topics. We could use the 3D printer to print physical maps, deepen our knowledge of perimeter and area, and create real models of fractions.
Students would use the 3D printer as a part of their project-based learning and Genius Hour initiatives.
I know my students would use the printer to answer and demonstrate ways to solve open-ended projects. My goal is to create a MakerSpace where students can gain experience in creating and exploring solutions to problems.
