Help me give my students the ability to 3D print in class any time they want to! We need a 3D printer that we can keep in our classroom. We also need filament and a MicroSD card reader.
This year I am teaching science and and math to 44 students each day, many of whom want to be scientists or engineers when they grow up. We are a STEM school and spend much of our time on PBLs (Problem Based Learning). This means we participate in hands-on activities on a regular basis. I want to make an active, engaging environment, but we need supplies.
These students are from a variety of backgrounds, are inquisitive, and intelligent.
They throw all of their energy into our activities, prompting me to continuously look for the next "best thing" out there to spark even more interest.
My Project
3D printing is the newest "in" thing in the classroom. Our school has several old 3D printers that do not always work properly. I want to teach my students how to 3D print and provide my students with opportunities to learn the entire process of 3D printing from idea to product.
3D printing is becoming a world-wide solution for many problems and my students need to know the process.
Students need these important 21st Century skills in order to compete in the professional world. They will also open more doors to future careers that may not be invented yet. 3D printing is our future and it is up to us to embrace it.
