My Students

I have nine students who are K-first graders. Our school is a specialty school designed to be a therapeutic whole experience for a range of disabilities. Academics is a strong focus in our setting, and our students work very hard on all four subjects each day.

These students are artists, singers, and dancers, and love to participate in gym, art, and science!

Our school is located in an urban setting within Chicago Public Schools. Eighty percent of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project

According to their site, the 3Doodler allows "students to literally draw in the air; it’s a handheld 3D printer that doesn’t require a computer or any technical skills." My students have physical limitations with fine and gross motor skills and I can foresee us using this pen in all four subject areas - making letters, numbers, shapes, and more. This will allow our content to come to life for students all while promoting independence and perseverance in their abilities. We can use these pens to make exciting artwork and to create science experiments!
