This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us make 3D models of our engineering designs! We have entered the First Lego League and Jr. First Lego League competition and need to design a model that can help with natural disasters.

I work at a Title I school where 98% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

I teach kindergarten but also sponsor our Robotics Club. We have two Jr. First Lego League teams that have students from 1st- 4th grade and one First Lego League team that have students from 4th-6th grade. That are dedicated students that come to work on their projects any free time they have, before school, recess, enrichment time and after school.

My Project

This is the first year we have entered a team in the First Lego League competition. The students are super excited about the project and everything it consists of. One requirement of the project is for the students to research natural disasters. They then have to choose one they would like to make a difference in. Our group chose Wild Fires and designed a vehicle that would help rescue humans as well as animals from the wild fires. We are going to meet with an egineer to help design the vehicle with the list of equipment the students came up with that the vehicle needed. The students will have to present their research to judges and have models of what they designed. We would use the 3D printer to help with the models needed for their presentations. We would also use the 3D printer to help our Jr. First Lego League team with their model. They have decided on Tsunamis and created a boat that can rescue people from buildings.

Engineering is a big push in schools right now.

It is important that we show our students that being an engineer has endless opportunities. You can provide our students with a tool that takes learning to a new level!
