My school is a public charter school providing students (learners) in grades 6-8 a hands-on STEAM, aerospace-focused, and project-based curriculum. We are the first school in the nation to be located right at an airport in Englewood, Colorado. Our learners come from all over the Denver area, from Franktown to Aurora to Arvada and beyond. This diversity brings different perspectives to our classrooms. Some of our learners have been homeschooled and some are just looking for a different type of school and have found their home at CSA!
Our learners are creative thinkers and very excited about learning!
Our curriculum focuses on core academic competencies, in addition to key focus areas that will prepare learners for promising careers in aerospace and technology. I will be team teaching with the science teacher to provide this PE elective in addition to teaching Exploratory/STEAM.
My Project
When I grew up, 3D modeling software wasn't even a thought in my mind. I liked 3D glasses and making things out of paper. Now, learners can design on Tinkercad or other cad programs and love doing it! What a great way to engage them and connect to their content.

Plus, with the coding features it offers, either text-based or block-based, allow students to create animations and characters' actions in various contexts as well as games. We will combine the creativity of 3D modeling and creation with coding to create real life stories. AHHH a literacy connection too!

ALL students can experience this no matter what device they have at home for remote learning as well as once we are in person. Learners can explore their creations in Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality using the Merge Cube add-on (another project will include Merge Cubes for viewing).
