My Project
360 Degree Math is a highly structured approach to teaching math that is unlike any other teaching approach. The elements of this approach are based on social, neurological and educational research. Students enter the classroom, they become the performers and while the teacher shifts into the audience.
360 Degree Math class allows students to work through the math on the four walls of the classroom while the teacher stands in the middle of the room and sees the learning as it happens.
Students form into social networks of learning during this active learning experience, helping one another grow.
Learning is no longer done in isolation or dysfunctional groups with students sitting in desks for prolonged periods of time while the teacher tries to help students individually, often repeating the same reminders and directions. The teacher can see student misconceptions immediately and provide feedback to the students in real-time.
I will use the magnetic white boards on all 4 walls in my classroom to create a 360 Degree learning environment for my students to engage and learn collaboratively.
360 Degree Math provides opportunity for all students to experience learning together. The teacher can see the misconceptions as they are happening, in real-time, and help students navigate through the learning with consistent, positive support and guided peer collaboration.
