My students need hands-on space exploration manipulatives, including a telescope, photo card library, and inflatable solar system, to help them have a better understanding of the sun, moon, earth, and planets.
Do you know how to scale down to make a replica of our solar system? My students will be able to do just that after manipulating the hands-on space exploration items.
I teach first through fifth grade gifted students at a public school in Georgia.
My students are so enthusiastic about learning. My students are very inquisitive and love to learn and explore. They really enjoy hands-on learning and project based learning.
My Project
My students will be actively involved in learning as they will have a 'birds eye view' through the use of a models of the solar system. They will be able to use the three-dimensional solar system to observe objects found in our solar system and understand the vocabulary of space exploration. Kinesthetic learners will manipulate the inflatable solar system and move themselves into order according to what planet they choose. As the students progress through the grades they will continue to have access to the equipment during our daily workshop time.
I hope to foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime by enhancing my lessons with hands-on materials.
I want to give children an exciting environment to work in that will encourage curiosity and creativity in the fields of science and math.
