This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the luckiest teacher. This year I have the privilege of looping with my students. Looping with these students has great perks! I have witnessed growth in their academic and social skills. What a pleasure it has been to see my students flourish.

I brag about my students in the way that a proud parent brags about their children.

Within the time that my students have been under my instruction, most of our English Language Learners have exited out of the language development program. Most of them have improved on state tests. They have made great gains in their writing, reading and math skills too. Their success is a result of strong teaching from all stakeholders from our school, parent support, and their strong will to succeed.

Our class is very unique and special. My students are responsible and respectful towards one another and show eagerness in their learning. Although this is my last year with these students, as they will move on to middle school next year, I am confident that in years to come I will continue to hear about all the great things they are doing in their lives.

My Project

In order to teach the various skills required to 5th grade students who each have unique learning styles, I must provide strong and engaging lessons.

Each day I strive to make our lessons exciting by approaching topics through different learning modalities.

For example, during a science lesson, I can engage the students through a hands-on exploration experience. With the support of the document reader and the projector, I will be able to model specific steps or features that I want students to focus in on. This technology will allow me to display the steps for all students to see at the same time. I can follow up on this same science lesson by showing a PowerPoint presentation or short clip that supports the science topic. In addition, the document reader will allow me to display text that I want the student to pay close attention to. The Bose wireless speaker will allow me to connect any electronic device to it for the class to listen to a short topic related clip. We currently have a generic wireless speaker that is sometimes barely audible due to everyday classroom noise such as chairs moving, pages shuffling and noise that can be heard from the younger grades that are out on the yard for recess.

These 3 pieces of technology will be used throughout the day and will have a positive impact on our learning experiences. This technology will not only make a difference for my current students but also for future students.

Please donate and help us fund our project.
