Our school is located in a rural, mountainous, and geographically remote area of West Virginia. Over three-quarters of our students come from low-income households. To ensure these students are College and Career Ready when they graduate high school, we need to give them rich learning experiences with problem solving.
My Project
Last year, our school was blessed with our first 3-D printer, and many students had the opportunity to learn about this important technology. Students in 9th grade English and Social Studies classes printed models for their study of mythology and game pieces for board games they designed for class projects. Students in my math classes also learned about 3-D printing by creating items for personal use.
The addition of this Dremel Digilab 3-D Printer will expand our printing capabilities by allowing us to run multiple projects at a time.
We are all hopeful that the new school year will provide us with a return to some more normal school activities, and this 3-D Printer will allow even more students to learn about 3-D printing technology and get excited about STEM!
