Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My Foundations of Technology class is an exciting venue for students to discover the role of technology in shaping their world, get an appreciation for the value of a STEM education, and learn to apply the engineering design process.

We are a public charter school, so the amount of funding we receive from our county is limited and we depend extensively on donations.

My students come from diverse backgrounds, and are very excited about our class. Many of our students have expressed a serious interest in an engineering or technology field.

My Project

Engineering and technology students will be using the FlashForge 3-D printer to build models they create in their design projects. They will be able to practice using CAD software, see their ideas come to life, and make something they can hold in their hands.

This project will be an invaluable asset in helping my students learn the engineering design process.

One of the important steps of the engineering design process is building mock-ups and prototypes. A 3-D printer could significantly help them with that. It would engage students and help them see the process connect to a final product, and relate their ideas to the real world.
