My Students

Hello! I am an Early Childhood Special Education teacher at an amazing specialty school that serves students with multiple disabilities.

I am lucky to be the teacher of 20 incredible 3, 4, and 5 year olds with various disabilities ranging from Autism to Down syndrome to Cerebral Palsy, and more.

Most of my students are nonverbal and communicate through pictures, gestures, or AAC devices. In my classroom, we focus on teaching communication, social emotional, play and independent functioning skills. Each day, my students come ready and excited to learn and play. I am truly honored to be their teacher and look forward to helping them grow throughout the year. Thank you for considering donating to an amazing group of students.

My Project

Nearly all of the materials in my classroom are adapted to meet the unique needs of all of my students. I often create my own math and language arts materials to make sure that the activities are developmentally appropriate for each child. In order to create these materials and activities, I need color ink for printing and laminating sheets to make them durable. Velcro is also critical when making interactive books and activities. My students are hands on learners and are more engaged in activities that are fun and interactive like the ones I selected in this project. I know that they will love the magnetic letters and peg letter boards to work on letter identification and sounds.
