My Students
My curious students have shown a great interest in learning about our solar system but we lack the books and resources to satisfy their quench for knowledge.
I am a first grade teacher with a diverse class of inquisitive students, many of whom are English Language Learners.
They are wonderful, eager students who possess such a love of learning. However, we are from a working class district that receives little federal, state, or local funding so resources are limited.
My Project
My students need books and materials that will teach them about space. They spend their free time making solar system books and crowns so they can pretend to be such characters as "King of Mars" or "Queen of Jupiter." I would like to indulge their fascination with the planets and the moon and provide them with opportunities to learn more about the solar system. Thus, I am requesting books that will inform them about the places they are captivated by. I am also requesting a puzzle as well as a solar system activity tub that is very hands-on. Both of these resources will enhance their learning.
With these resources my students will love science and learning about the solar system.
These materials will inspire them to be life-long learners who will have a curiosity about our world. They will learn so much about our universe and they will develop a new appreciation for it.
