My Students
As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many speak different languages such as Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese at home, and only speak English at school. Despite these challenges, they are most eager to learn.
Many of my students come from single-parent families or families where both parents have to work.
My students are very energetic and creative. Many of them like to spend lots of time on computers. Our school serves students in grades K-5. Our goal is to prepare our students for middle school and beyond!
My Project
To encourage early literacy, I am requesting a complete collection of the King School Series of leveled readers for every student to use during distance learning. The series includes a total of 15 different stories, which include diverse characters and situations with whom my students can relate.
This project will provide essential resources, so that my students can practice reading at home each day or night.
Now is the time to develop good reading habits and these wonderful King School leveled readers contain humorous situations, characters who resemble my students, plus those high frequency words my students must memorize to be successful readers.
