This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in an underprivileged community in the Bronx. They are are young first graders eager to explore and learn. Each student in my class wants to learn, however, each students has very different needs for them to be successful in the classroom. Some need modifications to the learning environment, others, need access to technology so that they can access the general education curriculum.
My students are sometimes forced to grow up too fast and they deserve to have the best possible education that meets their social, emotional, and academic needs!
My Project
These 2nd graders have experienced a school year like no other and they have finally made it to the end of the year. We wanted to celebrate all they have learned both academically and social emotionally by asking for their advice on items they would need as they progress in their education and items they think future 2nd graders will need.
These items will help students be successful in the upcoming school year!
We created this project to support the students and the teachers as they begin to think about next year. Teachers and students brainstormed items that will help the students over the summer, when they go to 3rd grade and will help the future 2nd grade students that will come to this class.
Students have asked for scooters and roller blades to exercise and play with their friends over the summer. Throughout the pandemic, students were very limited in their ability to be able to see their friends. Now that things are moving in a positive direction, we would love to provide them with the opportunity to socialize and have fun with their peers all summer!
Students have asked for headphones, iPad chargers, and iPad styluses. Learning in 2021 is now more technology based then ever! Students use their iPads throughout the school day and at home in almost every subject. Now that they use their iPads so much they have realized that these accessories are crucial to creating the best learning environment for them.
